What We Believe
-
THE BIBLE IS THE INSPIRED INFALLIBLE WORD OF GOD.
All scriptures both Old and New Testaments are inspired by God, and are the revelation of God to man. They are the infallible, authoritative rule of faith and conduct.
[2 Timothy 3:15-17, 1 Thessalonians 2:13, 2 Peter 1:21]
-
THERE IS ONLY ONE GOD.
There is only one all-powerful God who is the creator of heaven and earth. God has revealed himself through the Trinity. Although the word “Trinity” is not used in scripture, the teaching of the Trinity is in harmony in scripture. God has revealed Himself through three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Because they are the three persons in the Godhead that exist in perfect unity they are one God.
[Deuteronomy 6:4, Isaiah 43:10-11, Matthew 28:19, Luke 3:22]

WE SIN AND GOD SAVES.
We have all messed up. The Bible calls this sin. Man was created in God’s image, but chose to disobey God. Because of our sin we deserve the punishment of eternal separation from God. But because of His great love for us, God sent His son, Jesus Christ, who was born of a virgin, and lived a sinless life to die on a cross to pay the price for our sin. By trusting in Jesus as our Lord and Savior we can escape eternal punishment and live a life of freedom on earth.
[Romans 3:23, Romans, 6:23, Romans 5:8, Romans 10:9-10, Romans 10:13]

JESUS IS AMAZING.
Jesus Christ is the Son of God and is one with the Father (See “Our Beliefs About The One True God”). Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed countless miracles, healed those who were sick, died on the cross to pay the price for our sin, and then rose from the dead three days later. He has ascended to heaven and now sits at the right hand of God the Father. It is only by trusting in Jesus that we can escape the consequences of sin and live with God for all eternity.
[Matthew 1:23, John 14: 6, Matthew 4:24-25, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, Hebrews 1:1-4, Hebrews 4:16]
-
THE HOLY SPIRIT IS ACTIVE IN OUR LIVES.
Being baptized in the Holy Spirit gives us the power to share the love of Jesus with the people around us. The Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, and gives the believer gifts so that we can build up the church and love others well. The gifts of the Spirit demonstrated in an orderly way are a beautiful and vital part of the life of the believer and the church.
[John 16:8-11, Acts 1:8, Acts 2:1-4, 1 Corinthians 12:4-11]
-
JESUS CHANGES OUR LIVES FOR THE BETTER.
Salvation is a free gift of God and cannot be earned. When we become a follower of Jesus, God accepts us just the way we are. But as we continue in our relationship with Jesus, change happens from the inside out. Our life will begin to change as we learn to stop living for ourselves and desire to glorify God with our words and actions.
[Romans 12:1-2, Romans 6:1-2, Romans 8:1-2, Galatians 2:20, Philippians 2:12-13]

COMMUNION AND WATER BAPTISM.
The Bible gives us two specific ceremonies that we participate in that honor the work that Jesus did for us.
First, Communion is a memorial and a celebration that we do to honor the sacrifice that Jesus made for us. Communion (sometimes referred to as “eucharist”) has two elements: The bread reminds us of the broken body of Christ, and the cup reminds us of the blood of His sacrifice.
The second ceremony is Water Baptism. The Bible encourages us to be baptized Soon after we make the decision to follow Christ by being fully immersed in water. It is a public way for us to declare that we are now followers of Christ.
[Matthew 26:26-29, 1 Corinthians 11:23-29, Matthew 28:19, Acts 2:38]

THE CHURCH HAS A MISSION.
The church is a group of people who are striving to authentically follow Jesus. We follow the example of the early New Testament church in its four purposes: Worship, Instruction, Fellowship, and Declaration. The primary mission of the church is to help each believer grow in their relationship with God while also becoming friends with those who are unconvinced so that their will be opportunities for them to become followers of Christ. Our church is one of many local groups of believers that are a part of the large global church of Jesus.
[Matthew 28:19-20, 1 Corinthians 12:13, Ephesians 1:22-23, Ephesians 4:11-16, James 1:27]

GOD’S PLAN FOR THE END TIMES.
The Bible teaches us that one day in the future Jesus will return to earth to bring His followers to Heaven. The saints who have passed away will be resurrected, and those who are still alive will be immediately changed into their eternal condition. The day will come when Jesus will reveal Himself to the world in all His glory, and will establish His earthly kingdom. One day there will be a final judgement for all who have lived. Everyone whose name is not in the Book of Life will be eternally separated from God. Those whose names are written in the Lambs Book of Life will be rewarded and spend eternity with God and His followers.
[1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, Titus 2:13, Matthew 24:27, Revelation 19:11, Ezekiel 37:21-22, Revelation 20:11-15]
